What is Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine?

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is hands-on medical care used to assess and treat how structure influences function. Through skilled palpation, Dr. PW evaluates tissue tension, joint mobility, fluid dynamics, and nervous system patterns that may be contributing to pain, fatigue, or dysregulation.

Treatment is individualized and responsive to your body’s presentation that day. Some patients benefit from direct techniques such as muscle energy or trigger point therapy. Others respond best to indirect or gentle approaches that support nervous system regulation and fascial release.

OMT is integrated into a broader medical plan and may support:

  • Musculoskeletal pain

  • Hypermobility-related instability

  • Headaches

  • Postural strain

  • Autonomic imbalance

  • Lymphatic congestion

Common techniques include:

  • Myofascial release

  • Lymphatic drainage

  • Balanced Ligamentous Tension

  • Counterstrain

  • Muscle energy

  • Craniosacral techniques

  • Fascial distortion model

  • Trigger point therapy

OMT is a collaborative process that adapts to your body’s capacity and goals over time.
